Real estate sales training is perhaps the most important training in which a real estate professional can participate. Of course, in every state and the District of Columbia a real estate agent or broker must be licensed but without the ability to sell, the real estate license serves no purpose.

According to estimates from the National Association of Realtors, there are about two million licensed real estate agents in the United States. It’s a relatively easy field to join. The licensing requirements, although different for each state are not that stringent. Although you can get a bachelors degree, it is not required to procure a real estate license.

Maybe because it is so easy to jump into a real estate sale explains the large number of licensed real estate agents and brokers across the country. Of course, the turnover rate is high too. By some estimates, as high as 80 percent. Some estimates are equally as high for the percentage of real estate agents who quit in the first year.

There are seminars and classes and books that offer sales training. Some large realtors provide much of the sales training for their real estate agents. Others leave the agents to fend for themselves.

Real estate sales training is not unlike any other kind of sales training. The same rules apply. You must know your product in order to sell it. For a real estate agent this translates into knowing the community, the housing market, market trends, economic facts and figures, what is currently selling and what isn’t. It also means knowing more than a little about loans and mortgages. There are far more options today for buying and selling property than there used to be and not keeping up with the industry is the fastest way to sales suicide.

Sales is always about communication. That usually entails listening more than talking. You have to know what your client’s need is before you can fill it and the only way you will know this is effective listening. That’s why the Dale Carnegie sales training has always been so effective. It teaches interpersonal skills and communication skills. You can know everything there is to know about the real estate profession but if you can’t interact effectively with people, you will likely not be successful at real estate sales or any other kind of sales.

It’s not enough to just be a nice guy though. That’s one reason it’s imperative to have sales training. Having a real estate license is not enough that just means you have a grasp of the basics and you’re legal. Knowing your product isn’t enough either and you can be the nicest person in the world and not be able to sell a dime for a nickel. Remember Gomer Pyle? Can you imagine buying anything, let alone a house or other real property from him? Sure, he’s a nice guy but how confident would you be in his ability to sell you the best house for the best money and make sure everything went smoothly?

Learning by example is often the best way to learn. If you’re lucky enough to have a mentor or at least an experienced and successful real estate sales professional that will take you under their wing, let them. If they’ve been in the business very long, then it’s likely they’ve dealt with a wide variety of sales experiences and you could benefit greatly from that experience. You’re going to need some time anyway, in the form of several months living expenses to be able to survive in this game. If at all possible. link up with someone you can actually watch at work and discuss the experience before and afterwards. There’s no more valuable training. In fact, the better your sales training is, the more successful you’ll be as a real estate professional.

Whether you have a mentor or not, classes and seminars can definitely help. There’s nothing like the gung-ho feeling you get from a revved up motivational speaker who is also a salesperson. Any motivational speaker, therefore, is a salesperson or you wouldn’t be listening to him.

If a live class or seminar appeals to you, there are a great number of motivational speakers as well as sales coaches to learn from. The important thing is to learn the techniques you’ll need to be successful in real estate sales. Not everyone learns the same way or at the same pace. Sales training comes in different forms and the same format may not be right for everyone.

Knowing what not to do in sales can be just as important as knowing what to do. Sales training is one learning experience where you can greatly benefit from others’ mistakes as well as their successes. There are many online resources as well as live seminars and classes for every real estate sales professional.

Continuous sales training is necessary in order to get the most out of your sales team and in order for them to get the most out of your company. With great, continuous sales training everybody benefits with increased profits, repeat customers, and better profitability. Most major companies offer fairly good training to their sales team but nothing beats the benefits of having an outside sales trainer. An outside sales trainer will not only train a sales team the specifics of the company and their expectations but also the techniques that can be used by any sales professional that will get them and the company they work for the results that they want and need in order to be prosperous. With the economy the way that it is today sales professionals must be highly competitive as there are still multitudes of sales professionals out there competing but many less consumers’ business to compete for. An outside trainer will help your sales team to aggressively compete for the much needed business of the fewer number of consumers in today’s market.

An outside sales trainer is skilled in teaching sales professionals how to gain sales through effective communication, marketing strategies that really work, and the online community. These professional sales trainers know that you’re in business because you want to make money and they know as consumers what works when trying to sell a particular product or service. Such trainers have offered their services to numerous companies that have increased their profits due to the effective training their sales teams have received.

Trainers will teach you’re a sales team how to get through to the people who make the decisions and how to talk to them and handle them when they finally reach that point. Sales team associates will learn what consumers want to hear and what they don’t as well as. Associates will learn how much their individual attitude can affect a sale and how important confidence is in the world of sales. Sales associates will come out of such training with a better understanding of not only what the company they work for is about but also of what consumers expect out of the individuals that they buy their products and services from.

Sales training specialists will better be able to determine what kind of training best suits the individuals in a particular industry. Furthermore, such sales trainers will have the time and ability to conduct training in a way that won’t disrupt your company’s business and the training will be more effective because the needs of your company will be analyzed in a way that will allow the best techniques for you type of business. These sales trainers have the success of your company and your sales people in their hands and are willing to prove to you if given the chance how beneficial professional sales training can be for you and for your sales associates. Finding an outside sales trainer to train your associates is one of the most important steps you can take towards a prosperous future.

It is a compact experimental device that fits comfortably between the riders legs, to provide free movement in all directions just as in human walking forward, backward, side-to-side, and diagonally. Honda will continue research and development of the device including experiments in a real-world environment to verify the practicality of the device. This new personal mobility device makes it possible to adjust speed and move,

Interactive kiosks are an easy-to-use tool that should be incorporated into every retailer’s sales force. Acting as virtual salespeople, they help keep customers informed, entertained and happy.

Why Interactive Technology Is Needed

Use of the Internet has forced retailers to respond to two new realities. First, customers are extremely knowledgeable about the products on offer. Second, Web access to a store’s complete inventory has led customers to expect access to everything in the catalogue at the bricks and mortar store.

Interactive kiosks present a single solution that can both improve the customer experience and satisfy customer needs.

Expert Customers

Many customers research products online before ever setting foot in a store. They know many of the features of the products they are shopping for, and they expect the salespeople to know them too. If they have questions, they do not want to hear a salesperson say “I don’t know”, especially when they can look up the information on the Web themselves.

The retailer’s solution to the “expert customer” should be to provide well-informed and well-trained staff. But that is not realistic. Sales positions have notoriously high turnover rates. It is also unreasonable to expect an average store employee to have detailed knowledge of every product a store stocks. Further, with many chains concerned about the bottom line, a full complement of staff has become a bit of a luxury.

Given all of these considerations, it is easy to see how interactive kiosks can help a retailer. They stand in for salespeople when staffing levels are low or when a salesperson doesn’t know the product line well. They give a customer the freedom to look up answers to questions without feeling pressured by a salesperson. They provide an opportunity to educate customers about product features through entertaining short video or animated segments. And they allow the retailer to promote sales and higher-margin items.

Product Selection

We’ve probably all experienced the frustration of seeing the exact item we want on a store’s Website only to go to the store and find that it isn’t there. In an effort to remedy this situation, some stores provide online access to inventory information so customers know ahead of time if something is in stock. This option may help the customer, but by stopping the customer from coming to the store, the retailer loses a valuable opportunity to make a sale.

Using their Website to draw customers, retailers can rely on interactive kiosks located in-store to close the sale. With interactive kiosks, customers are given the convenience of ordering an alternate product (or a higher-margin item) even if it is not in stock at the time. Because it is available when the customer is motivated to buy, the kiosk allows for impulse ordering. Without the kiosk, that customer would leave the store, have time to rethink the purchase and, perhaps, decide against it.

Hybrid Digital Signs

A recent innovation combines the power of digital signage with the functionality of interactive kiosks. Sometimes referred to as “hybrid digital signs”, this technology uses large digital displays to draw a customer’s attention. It then switches content based on shopper input, either through a touch screen or as a reaction to the motion of a customer who is passing by. The blending of digital signage and interactive kiosks offers retailers the best of both worlds – maximum reach with a personal touch.

No matter what format it takes, the interactive kiosk is the solution retailers need to keep pace with their well-informed customers.

Help answer the question about retail sales training

How can I sell myself in order to get a response, at least, for an interview?
My previous job is very different from the recent jobs that I applied for. I was doing paperwork, and data entry. Honestly, I didn't like my previous job very much. I tried to apply anywhere, and also, I thought about changing the type of job I want to do.

I recently applied for a banquet server position, and interviewed with the office manager 2 days ago. I told her I have no previous experience in serving, but am a quick learner. I'm not sure when she'll be calling me, though. I hope that she will this weekend or within this week.

I have a friend who is a part-time server, and had no previous experience at all when she applied for that job. She had recently talked to her manager about me 3 days ago. But, I have no certainty. I haven't received a call from the manager.

However, I also applied for a retail sales associate position, and I can go tomorrow for training. I was just less motivated when I learned that the salary is $ 7.25 per hr, and it's about 30 mins. away.

In the crazy world of commerce, few businesses are as predictably unpredictable as retail apparel. In this industry, retailers need to understand their customers intimately and make available clothing that matches the fashion of the time every time. Failure to do so is not only a blow to the brand but might severely impact the business’ profitability and future viability as excess inventory will have to be sold at scrap value. Nowhere is creativity and innovation more closely intertwined than in the fickle world of fashion.

Such was the challenge for PEPPO Fashions Group, an apparel distributor in Thailand, which manages labels such as Guess, Guess Baby/Kids, Guess Accessory Stores, Mango, Marciano and Castro. It has 12 standalone retail outlets and presence in 50 department store consignments in the country.

Operational nightmare

According to Palakorn Khisalang, IT Manager for the Group, department stores constantly refresh their layouts, and require tenants like PEPPO to move within the building several times a year.

“It’s a time-consuming and costly exercise for us to re-architect our IT network after each move,” Khisalang says. “Moreover, department stores often run promotional bazaars at central locations, making it difficult for our staff to conduct customer transactions away from their regular in-store counter. This in turn causes discrepancies between the actual transactions conducted and the receipts that were generated.”

As the Group expands, managing the IT operations based on a distributed architecture introduced significant network latency and became prohibitively challenging for a small team. This has a negative impact on the efficient collection of accurate sales data and thus hindered management’s running crucial sales analysis.

“Our staff needed to be able to get real time updates on stock availability from our back-end warehouses and head office in Bangkok. Although we had moved from a manual system to bar-coding, we still needed a solution that would allow the staff to register inventory while on the move, instead of having to return to a central computer terminal to enter data,” Khisalang explains.

Re-architecting IT around the business process

The company evaluated a number of solutions including deploying GPS and ISDN to ensure access to a single repository of data containing retail sales, inventory at the warehouse, and in-transit movement of goods. Each proposal failed on either cost or effectiveness.

One solution that appeared viable, however, was to introduce wireless technology at the retail sites and at the warehouses. The plan is for retail outlets to be equipped with thin client laptops and sales operators with wireless PDAs. This would allow staff to easily move around within the store, and between stores as well.

A centralized delivery mechanism for all applications was also deemed critical for the overall solution to work. The company evaluated a number of technologies and chose the Presentation Server from Citrix.

The Citrix Presentation Server centralizes the delivery of all the client applications the staff need — such as Microsoft Excel to run sales projections — without having to physically install these applications onto each device. The staff in turn can access multiple applications from any location.

“We enlisted the help of a Citrix Solution Advisor to implement the Citrix Presentation Server 4, with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 running on two HP ProLiant servers in the firm’s data center in Bangkok,” says Khisalang.

At the warehouses, the company used SYMBOL handheld devices to conduct inventory checks online via Citrix, with security over the network provided using a VPN combined with a two-factor authentication procedure comprising an RSA SecurID token and password.

Citrix was used to optimize inventory management process. As the access infrastructure foundation, Citrix Presentation Server provides staff with real-time access to a proprietary ERP solution called “PEPPOS” that is customized for retail management via PCs and wirelessly over PDAs. As goods move in and out of the warehouses, the bar code attached to each item is scanned, allowing the staff to track inventory movement. Previously, they had to walk to a LAN terminal to manually enter the data.

The new wireless solution resulted in a more efficient model for keeping track of inventory back at the warehouses, with front-line sales staff now having online access to the most updated information from virtually any machine in a secure manner.

“All of these factors played a strong part in our decision to deploy the Citrix solution to enable a mobile and wireless enterprise, and we believe that this innovative application of technology has enabled us to build a highly adaptable retail model,” adds Khisalang.

Part of the initial requirement in the choice of technology was the concern of user training. With only four members in the IT team, PEPPO needed a solution that would require minimal training for everyone involved in the use of the new mobile devices. PEPPO put considerable effort in identifying the right combination of hardware and software to effectively mobilize its staff and ensure safe and efficient access to company information.

PEPPO, however, still faces a number of business process and technical challenges to realize the full potential of wireless technology across the entire operations. From a business perspective, enabling a wireless IT infrastructure isn’t immediately possible across all of its locations because of constraints imposed by department stores. Even where possible, it can sometimes take a few months to finalize negotiation with the management.

Benefits gained through centralized delivery model

By centralizing application delivery and management on Citrix servers, and providing virtualized application access on PDAs, PEPPO is able to more easily handle department store counter relocations and periodic sales from central bazaars without having to reinstall point of sale terminals and other equipment, which saves time and money. At the same time, productivity for retail staff has improved because they no longer need to walk to and from fixed terminals to capture the data. Similar productivity improvements have also been observed at warehouses using real-time inventory tracking.

Centralized management has enabled PEPPO to keep IT headcount at four people, despite a significant increase in the number of stores and IT users. What used to take two weeks to install or upgrade software company-wide now takes only one hour.

“With the Citrix Presentation Server solution, we have been able to provide approximately 340 staff at 50 different locations throughout Thailand with secure remote access to critical business applications wirelessly via a 128 kbps ISDN connection from PDAs over a 802.11b/g WLAN interface,” beams Khisalang. These applications include Microsoft Office 2003, Oracle Database 10g, and PEPPOS.

Low-bandwidth printing has also been critical to business productivity at both the back-end and retail fronts. Accountants can remotely print the day’s transactions from the head office. Warehouse assistants can now generate delivery notes, invoices, consignment notes and price tags wirelessly as well. “We can now literally link data to a retail outlet anywhere in Thailand or the world overnight, unencumbered by the typical technology hurdles that other companies face,” adds Khisalang.

Surprisingly, the new solution has resulted in a significant downgrade in the bandwidth requirements of PEPPO. The company uses a 128 Kbps connection at each location back to the Citrix Servers at head office. Conventional technology would have necessitated a 512 Kbps or 1MB bandwidth demand. PEPPO estimates that it was able to save up to $1,600 in bandwidth costs per location alone.

“I recently attended a retail conference in Bangkok, where the focus was on how IT can be used as an enabler for retail enterprises. Some of the technologies mentioned were the ones PEPPO have used several years ago. Many have yet to integrate these with wireless technology. I think companies in the retail industry stand to benefit from these technologies,” concludes Khisalang. ” Now that we have found the right formula to enable a mobile enterprise, we will continue to establish wireless infrastructure in our new stores as we expand our presence in Thailand.”

I am fortunate to live in a Southern California beach town. I have surfed most of my life because of my close proximity to the ocean. Unlike how it is portrayed in the movies, California beaches get cold in the winter, requiring surfers to wear wetsuits this time of the year. I needed a new wetsuit this year and my shopping experience at the local surf shops left much to be desired because of their point-of-sale systems. They have the technology to provide outstanding customer service, so why aren’t they using it?

The town I grew up in has a small main street with over ten surf shops selling the same merchandise. This makes it very convenient for me to run down during my lunch hour and grab whatever I may need very quickly. On this occasion I needed a specific size of wetsuit so I made a few phone calls to make sure they had my size. I found two stores right across the street from one another that had my size. The first store couldn’t tell me the color of the wetsuit. The other store told me they had one in black after they put me on hold and physically checked. When I asked each of them if their other store locations had any in stock, rather than looking up stock balances on their point-of-sale systems, they gave me the phone numbers to the other stores and told me to call myself.

Feeling confident, I headed down during my lunch hour to buy my new wetsuit. When I walked into the first store, they had my size, as they told me they did on the phone, but the only color they had was red! Their point-of-sale software couldn’t give them that important information and so they couldn’t relay it to me. I shot the sales person an unhappy look, and he simply said, “I know”. So I left that store with my $400.00 and walked across the street to the second store that had my size and in the standard black color that I wanted.

I found the wetsuit in the second store right away. The time limit on my parking meter and lunch hour were expiring so I was in a hurry. I took the wetsuit to the first counter and the clerk told me the system was down; and then asked if I could move to another checkout counter. At the next one, the girl said the receipt printer was out of paper and she didn’t know how to replace it. At the third counter, the clerk could ring me up but only if I were paying cash because they were trying to fix a credit card machine batch error. Each of their checkout counters are in different places throughout the store, so at that point I was done. They also lost a $400.00 purchase due to their point-of-sale system.

Walking back to my car, I decided to quickly check a smaller store on the same street. Rather than searching myself, I simply walked up to the counter and asked them if they had the black wetsuit I wanted in my size. The clerk looked it up on the screen and then brought it back to me while I never left the counter. That’s service! Their point-of-sale system was quick and efficient. Since I’m in the point-of-sale industry, I also noticed that they had up-to-date hardware, software, and credit card processing. The efficiency of their point-of-sale system made it easy for me to buy and earned them the $400.00 sale.

Driving back to the office, I wondered how many times sales simply walk out of stores because of their point-of-sale systems. The products most retailers sell aren’t unique so the emphasis should be on customer service and making it easy for a customer to buy. Otherwise, a customer can simply walk to another retailer and buy the same item. Follow these tips to insure your point-of-sale system isn’t costing you sales.

Training – Training your front line employees on the proper use of the point-of-sale system should be a top priority. This training should include all aspects of the system that allow them to serve the customer more efficiently. Most clerks seem to know just the basics, and any anomaly forces them to stop production (sales) and wait for help. Just think about how many times you’ve been in a line and are forced to wait while a customer pulls out a coupon, is exchanging merchandise, or is trying to buy an item without a barcode. And these are just the basics.

Cashier training should also include advanced functions such as checking stock levels for in-store customers as well as call-in customers, checking stock levels at other stores, initiating a store transfer, searching for merchandise in the system, ringing items with missing bar code tags, and any simple hardware malfunctions that may occur (these would include changing receipt paper, rebooting a computer, and so on).

Accurate Inventory – The accuracy of the point-of-sale information is only reliable when the users are reliable and disciplined. Unreliable information is an indication of an undisciplined user. How many times have you heard store employees say “the system shows we have one, but I’d call first to verify.”? Or worse, a store tells you the system confirms they have several, and you make the trip, only to find they have none.

To insure accurate and reliable on-hand inventory levels within the point-of-sale software, the user must:

1.      Perform a regular physical inventory. These should be performed quarterly as part of the auditing process when preparing quarterly financial statements.

2.      Cycle Counts – If a quarterly inventory process is too much of a challenge, perform cycle counts within the best selling departments or vendors lines.

3.      Do not allow employees to sell goods classified with a miscellaneous SKU (Stock Keeping Unit). Inventory levels will never be adjusted properly.

4.      Scan the bar code of every item sold. Entering an item number manually into the system will never account for size and color based items. An item UPC (Universal Product Code) bar code is different for each size and color.

5.      Insure the store locations are communicating with each other flawlessly. Whether your system is a real-time configuration or a polling configuration; proper communications will either make or break the reliability of the point-of-sale information. Sales, returns, receiving, adjustments, and transfers all affect stock levels. A store location can never know if an item is in inventory or has sold out unless it is communicated to them.

Modern Hardware – You should pay attention to the aesthetics of the point-of-sale hardware just as you would to any other store fixture. You will interact with customers more at the cash wrap than any other area in the store; so make sure to make it a pleasant experience.

Most name brand hardware today is a bargain compared to a few years ago. It also gives your store an updated appearance. Although it will cost slightly more than “cheap” hardware, it will more than pay for itself with the reliability it offers. Modern hardware also requires less real-estate at the cash wrap; touch screens and flat screens don’t require a mouse and take up less space. An all-in-one type of unit offers all of the components, including the computer, built into the monitor.

The best part of name brand point-of-sale hardware is that it works reliably. POS hardware companies have industrialized their computers and peripherals to meet the rigorous demands of the retail environment. These types of computers and printers will cost more, but their duty cycles vastly outperform any comparable consumer level device. Consumer level computers are not designed to operate non-stop for 12-24 hours per day.

Integrated Credit Card Processing – Save yourself and your customers the frustration of those little grey boxes. Anytime you can minimize devices or suppliers, your quality will always improve. Most point-of-sale systems today offer a credit card processing feature within the application. Using the software versus dedicated hardware allows you to speed transaction times, reduce costs for paper and dedicated phone lines, decrease training confusion, reduce theft, and free up valuable counter space. It’s a winner on all levels.

Easy To Load Receipt Printers – The days of 2-ply and 3-ply receipt paper are long gone. Most point-of-sale software today allows you to recall a receipt onto the screen for reprints. If your software has this feature, dump the slow dot-matrix printer and get one of the faster thermal printers on the market today. In addition to being fast and quiet, they also offer lower paper costs and can be loaded with the press of a button. When the paper runs out, cashiers simply press the open button and drop in a new roll. Anyone can learn this within seconds, and they will no longer have to wait for a manager to perform the old task of threading multi-part paper through the maze of spools.

Having a point-of-sale system and using it strategically are two very different things. Rather than using the point-of-sale system as a glorified cash register; use it to provide superior customer service. The difference will earn you the sales that are walking out of your competitor’s doors.

Is working as a store manager for Hollister Co. a great oppurtunity?
I recently got a call to interview for store manager position at Hollister Co, owned by Abercrombie & Fitch. I have not worked directly in retail management, but have worked in sales. They train you, and after an MIT program, (short), you become THE store manager. Thats what the interview is for. I am curious, is this a good company to work for and a great oppurtunity? Will the amount of work seriously override the amount I get paid? Anyone worked here before?

Retail Sales Coaching should be designed to work on behalf of each individual Salesperson who wants to succeed for them, while being part of an environment that nurtures and speeds their growth.

Retail Sales Training is for each person who cared to show up today to express themselves in a retail sales environment and who demands more of themselves. Retail Sales Training is for people who want to feel they have done their best with what they knew, today.

Retail Sales Coaching’s purpose is to clarify, in a realistic, truthful and meaningful way, precisely how each person can perform better. It must do this by connecting people with the objectives of the company within the framework of their own need to succeed and be recognized.

Retail Sales Training Software must work by identifying the absolute area of selling skill, the one out of five key performance indicators (KPIs), which if the Salesperson were to focus on exclusively, would become their best performance enhancer – their best chance at optimum improvement.

Retail Sales Coaching Software should be about helping your company and its people become richer by revealing the truth about their performance, on an individual basis, so your Salespeople can focus on making their most significant improvements in the shortest period of time.

The result of implementing the right solution is that each Salesperson’s performance is increasing at optimum speed, so you can expect your retail store as a whole to increase sales by anywhere from ten to thirty percent.

Any Retail Sales Training system of appraisal and reporting should make sales people accountable for their time by measuring their performance according to key KPI’s, against each other, and against the store average. Unless measurements are taken on a regular basis and compared with the rest of the people on the shift it would be impossible to know the area in which to train.

Today, most POS software programs generate KPIs such as average sale, items per sale, sales per hour. However, they do not allow store managers to set sales goals and divide them up proportionally between salespeople so effectively POS sales reports are useless.

While door counters are useful unless they integrate with an effective Retail Training software program they cannot generate Conversion Rate KPIs – one of the fundamental KPI’s used in Sales Training.

There are software programs available to compliment your POS that will do the job including breaking down slow and fast periods of the day by weightings.

Here are some things to look for in a Retail Sales Training Software Program:

• Store Information Register to record specific information about the store.

• Staff Information Register and Coaching Log to record specific information and availability and coaching history of each sales person.

• Weekly Sales Goals Planner that automatically divides the store sales goal fairly between the salespeople on duty, including taking into account slow and fast periods of the day.

• Weekly Staff Roster to allocate staff to a time and attendance schedule within the framework of the store’s wage budgets, warning when over rostering and helping to improve wage to sales ratio efficiency.

• Actual Performance Score Card that tracks individual actual sales performance against individual sales goals to identify areas of weakness and strength so that managers can coach behaviors.

• Optimally, coaching tips should be integrated so managers can quickly get information about coaching on specific deficient selling skills.

The objectives of Retail Sales Training Software Programs are to:

• Increase profits, decrease costs, motivate staff

• Bring Retailers in line with industry Best Practice

• Filter company sales objectives down to Individual Salespeople on the shop floor

• Focus Store Managers on the two operational expenses within their control: Wages and Individual Sales Performance

• Make Salespeople accountable for their time

• Reduce payroll by Rostering within set wage parameters

• Identify each individual Salesperson’s deficient selling skills each week

• Show sales trends for each individual salesperson and store

• Integrate self-based coaching to give front line store managers’ tips on demand

• Motivate employees by instilling a performance based team culture

• Identify best performers allowing Store Managers to roster those staff more often – yielding a higher wage to sales ratio or ROI

• Reduce attrition rates, retain good staff

• Introduce a system of setting standards, tracking, measuring and reporting results, identifying under performance and coaching for success

• Integrate with POS to produce instant information at Salespeople’s fingertips.

Retail competition is fierce and times are tough. If you want to increase retail sales performance then coaching sales people is vital to success. Successful retailers put into place best practice retail training software programs to help them immediately identify skill areas requiring coaching attention.

Without the help of retail performance metrics you may be wasting valuable training time and missing the point for each individual salesperson.

If you are curious about about online video training then you have perhaps already heard what a wonder Webvideos are in increasing traffic to your site. It doesn’t really matter if you are an an experienced marketer, a building contractor, a clothing designer – whatever your profession – Webvideos are the best way to attract the public to your site or blog; that means better conversions and easy profits… increased product sales and new email subscribers, and a lot more people spending valuable time on your site.

You need to realize that several principles, methods, and conditions are involved that are necessary to learn and be comfortable with if you want to succeed on the web through the use of this high-performing marketing tool. For instance, you need to find out how to convert a digital video into something that can be viewed on your website (most people have no idea about this), the importance of using the right size and resolution settings for your video, how and especially where your webvideo should be embedded on a page you’ve already set up to make it as powerful as possible.

If you think you’d like to know about online video training, doesn’t it appeal to you to get the facts on the extremely low cost way to create a single video which can send thousands or perhaps even millions of unique visitors your way? Think about your site getting that much free traffic, and you won’t be limited to youtube®… there are other things you can do to have that zero-cost traffic sent your way. You have to understand, people have a preference for watching movies instead of always having to read, and this is an effective new technology that you shouldn’t miss out on.

There’s really nothing to it, and it’s really not relevant if you are a novice or an expert in the field of computers, all you need is good instruction to show you the way to get familiar with this technology and then you can enjoy the increase in hits. Even if you just want to find out about online video training, spend a couple of minutes to check this free guide; it covers all the information you should know in order to develop professional Web-videos including helpful suggestions, specific methods, and specialized tools.

As a fresh graduate interested in a career in sales, you almost have unlimited options as far as your career’s future goes. You will likely come across a staggering amount of job opportunities and employment options for a career in sales, and you will find that your education, skills, and knowledge are high in demand.

While this is good news, it can also present somewhat of a challenge. With all these options, you may become overwhelmed and unsure about where to start. Too often, college graduates who received training specifically in sales can make assumptions and say, “well, I’ll just start my career in sales and go find a sales-oriented job!”

However, it’s not as simple as that. If you take some time to do some research and explore your post-graduate options, you will find yourself in front of a plethora of different sales career choices. The best way to get started on the right track with your sales career is to narrow down your focus from all the different sales career choices. The sales career choice you choose will depend on what interests you, and where your skills, knowledge, and expertise lie.

One of the biggest sectors for sales jobs is the financial sector. Here, you will find sales jobs in investment banking, insurance, real estate, and loan lending. Financial sales career choices are great options, if you like working with money, numbers, and policies, as well as with people. Further, there is generally a huge demand for these types of sales jobs, as there will always be customers in need of financial services. A job in sales in the financial sector can be very lucrative and rewarding, if you’re successful and willing to put in the effort.

The service industry is another major area in which you can begin your sales career. Service sales representatives provide regular services and introduce new products and services to existing clients. Pharmaceutical and medical sectors are growing and are great areas in which to look for sales jobs.

Another great area for sales career choices is the high-end retails sales industry, if you don’t mind working in retail. They may not be as glamorous as other sectors, but if you know what you’re doing, work great with people, are friendly and helpful, this might be the perfect sales career choice for you. Other areas for sales jobs include collections and telemarketing, which can be great paying with other incentives and bonuses, but also quite challenging and frustrating.

Whatever you decide, the sky is the limit as far as sales career options go, and be prepared to change jobs, sectors, and industries several times before you find your “niche” and perfect fit.

Can anyone help me find a job in the Seattle/Tacoma/Bellevue area? Resume and story attached. Anyone?
Ok… I have moved around a little over the past few years. I lived in Florida for about 6 1/2 years. I did move to Montana for a year to take care of my mother after a near-fatal accident. I moved back to FL, then my spouse's job took us to Portland, OR in March, 2008. Unfortunately, after our cross-country move, the company had layoffs and we couldn't survive on my salary alone in Portland. We are regrouping in Lafayette, LA where we have family and a much more affordable lifestyle. Both of us dislike it here very much, and miss the Northwest like crazy. We are looking at the Seattle area instead of Portland because the economy in Seattle is more sound. Resume below. I did not list my name, address or phone number for privacy reasons. If you would like to contact me, please reply to this question. Thank you!

That is why it is important to have a well trained sales staff. Sales training is one of the best ways to make sure that your sales staff knows and understands all of the techniques and methods to gain your business sales.

If your business has a fairly large staff of sales personnel you might want to consider hiring a company to train your staff. There are many different approaches to sales and you should look into the methods that the company will be teaching your sales personnel. Make sure that they teach some type of web sales.

The training company should teach a variety of methods to achieve sales including advertising, marketing and selling over the Internet.

Every business operates differently and sells a different product or service. The methods to sell those products or services will depend on what you are selling. Your training company should take note of your business and determine what methods are most appropriate for your staff to learn.

The personnel will learn how advertising affects their sales and the different methods that can be used through advertising to increase sales. Keeping loyal customers is another part of successful sales. Bringing in new customers is not the only part of sales. It is important to keep those customers as well.

It might be next to impossible to get all of the staff together for one training session. You will have to find alternative ways to get everyone trained. The personnel that are available in the office will benefit from one training session that can be conducted in office. For those that are out of the office they might be able to have an online training session instead of coming into the office. There is a way to get every one of your sales staff trained no matter what the circumstances are. If it is necessary to conduct one-on-one training then a good training company will be able to provide it.

Some businesses do not seem to think that training their sales staff is worth the money. However, they make this decision to their own detriment. The businesses that have the trained staff are at a sizable advantage over those that do not. Online technology has created a new way of conducting sales and it is important that your business learn the techniques. A good sales training company can give your staff the important techniques that are proven to be successful online.

When you are conducting business today the environment has grown to include the entire world. You have to bring customers in from everywhere in the world. The online world is the way that you do that. Your sales staff will be completely trained in this method of selling when you have them properly trained in online selling.

Everyone in your office can benefit from some degree of training. One place where sales training will benefit a great deal is in the customer service department. Anyone who deals directly with customers can benefit from learning the techniques that are presented in a sales training seminar.

Apple Sales Training?
Hi everyone, I am working as an intern at an Apple reseller store in NYC, which means the store is not part of Apple Inc., but sells Apple and 3rd party supporting products and accessories. The internship program at the store tried to sign up for apple sales training and apple sales training online. We all received an e-mail saying that we were accepted into the sales and training programs. However, after originally not being able to verify our accounts, our accounts got deactivated for security reasons. We did violate some terms of agreement?? Why is Apple rejecting us?

What can salespeople learn from Ben Hur and Mickey Mouse? Both the movie and the cartoon premiered on November 18th in different years. In the debut, the first public appearance or the introduction, salespeople hold at least four stars, four ideas, to better engage their prospects in making that successful first impression.Â

What is your goal on the first call? Depending on your product or service, most professional salespeople make the first call a get to know the customer call and to get a follow up appointment. Notice that the primary emphasis is not simply on getting to know you, your product, your service or your company. Unless you are selling pens behind a retail counter or are a retail sales clerk, your customer is not going to make the buying decision in minutes. What is your goal on the initial contact?Â

Do you have a good fit for the prospect? All salespeople want to sell! But do you want to sell everyone? Ben Hur and Mickey Mouse, now classics, had a different audience. Not every customer will be a good fit for you, your company, your product or your service. During an initial contact it’s a good idea to qualify and find out if this prospect is a good fit for what you’re offering.

How do you get to know your prospect and determine a good fit? In the movie industry, screenings and early viewings determine if and when a movie gets released. In selling, before you get to the initial meeting, do some research and prepare some questions. First, be prepared before you meet. Either research the company or talk with some of your connections about the person. This will spare you from taking time to ask low calorie questions like, “What is your current revenue?” or “Is this your only location?” It’s more effective to research things like this, or save them until the follow-up call. Then, have a few strategic high fat open-ended questions, such as: “Tell me about your top two or three challenges.” “What do you want that you don’t have now?” “Oh, you’ve worked with ‘The Other Company’ in the past. What did you like about them?” You’re qualifying and finding a fit during the initial sales call.Â

How do you end the initial contact? If you want to hear applause similar to that at the end of movies like Ben Hur and Mickey Mouse’s premier, your introductory call will balance the questions with listening – listening to all that you guided your prospect to tell you. If they qualify, if there is a good fit, then you want to ask for a decision, the next appointment, or make a recommendation for the prospect if the fit isn’t right.Â

Movie premiers are all about the movie stars. The glitz and glamour is usually focused on the actors. For an initial sales call to be successful, focus on your star – the prospect. If you have a goal, do some early research, have some thoughtful questions prepared, and then all along the way you have built rapport to continue the sales process. Is a four star initial sales call in your future?
